Trafalgar Castle built in 1859 and was the residence of Nelson Gilbert Reynolds, the Sheriff of Ontario County. In 1869 the castle was visited by Prince Arthur and Sir John A. Macdonald. Governor General Lord Dufferin opened the Ontario Ladies College in 1874 at the castle. The school offered diplomas and matriculation to university. The school fell under the jurisdiction of the Methodist Church until 1925 when it became the United Churches resonsibility. Some acclaimed guest lecturers where Lucy Maude Montgery and Bliss Carman. Sometime in the past few years the school was renamed as Trafalgar Castle School. |
